Beiju Brand Identity & App Design

Brand Design / App Design2025–Present

Beiju is an IoT- and AI-powered care sensor and app for families who want to naturally watch over older loved ones living apart. As design partner, I work across branding and software design, shaping the product from its communication and tone through to the app experience.

Beiju is a care sensor and app designed for families who want to stay close to older loved ones without turning care into surveillance. The sensor can be placed in a room and plugged into a wall outlet, then the app helps family members understand activity, temperature, and signs that someone may need support.

Built from Niigata

Beiju was founded in Niigata, a region with a deep culture of manufacturing and practical craft. The product is led by a development team formed by early members of an IoT startup that grew all the way to IPO, bringing firsthand experience in turning connected hardware and software into products people can actually use.

The team is also moving forward with proof-of-concept projects alongside local government and real estate partners. That fieldwork matters: Beiju is being shaped not only as a device or app, but as infrastructure that can fit into homes, communities, and existing care relationships.

Designing for quiet reassurance

The product needed to feel easy to start, easy to trust, and gentle enough to fit into daily life. Beiju uses LTE connectivity, so families do not need to configure Wi-Fi or install new equipment. Motion and temperature sensing provide a simple picture of day-to-day wellbeing while avoiding the pressure and discomfort of camera-based monitoring.

Privacy and security first

In the AI era, care products need to earn trust before they can become useful. Beiju puts privacy protection and security at the front of the product experience: no camera-based monitoring, less invasive sensing, and communication designed around only the signals families need to act with confidence.

This stance also shapes the brand. The product should not feel like a black box that collects data in the background. It should clearly communicate what it senses, why it matters, and how that information supports care while respecting the person living with the device.

Branding and software design

As design partner, I support both the brand and the software experience. The work spans the language and direction of the brand, the structure of the app, interface design, and the flow of care-related communication between family members.

The design challenge is to make alerts, reports, AI support, and family chat feel calm rather than clinical. Beiju should help families notice changes and coordinate care, while still respecting the person being watched over.

Product experience

Beiju combines activity alerts, heatstroke alerts, app notifications, family chat, and AI-assisted support. The goal is not to make technology stand in front of daily life, but to let it quietly support people when they need it.
